Let me just start by saying that trying to do a session with your other kids waiting in the car is just not conducive to being very creative. Secondly, trying to use a location creatively in the rain poses a little bit of a challenge. Luckily, it was perfect for the rain because we were sheltered most of the time.
Our theme this week, “Creative Location” was an interesting one to figure out. Right away I thought of this building on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. It is a beautiful building that has a lot of neat elements including a fountain, giant columns and lots of stairs. I thought it would be fun to try to utilize as much of the space as I could. I think it is neat to think that another photographer could go to the same location and probably find 15 different ways to use it.
This month my 7 year old stepped up to the plate. Everyone else moaned and complained about having to do pictures again. I tried to make it fun and let her choose how she stood and posed. She really wanted to wear my glasses so we did a few of her reading books, which was a nod to us being on a college campus.
Sorry, this post is a bit image heavy but I felt it appropriate so you could see the several places we were able to utilize on our location.
The very last image is the “pullback” to show you the building where we shot.
Please do not forget, this is a group project. Please continue to the fabulous Christine Blaylock | Chicago Area Photographer to see her take on this week’s theme.
