Project 12 Portraits: {Back Lighting & Sun Flare} | Hattiesburg, MS Photographer

For weeks it has been raining here. Alot. Rain means so sun, no pretty golden streaks, no pretty back lighting. There have been days with pretty sun, but I was never home on those days nor had my camera. I tell you all this because I cheated. I admit it. I never could pull off new pictures for this theme. Luckily, I already had some of my oldest girls so I decided to use those this time. I hope you will forgive me.

This set is from a session I did with my 2nd daughter a little while ago. She has already grown up so much since we did these.

The next grouping are some I did for a specific assignment. These are some of my favorite “non person” pictures I have ever taken. I need to get these printed. The light is do dreamy in these.

This last two I took with my oldest daughter. We were just messing around. I loved how the light looked through her dress. When I do back lighting images, that is what I look for. What elements of the picture can make the sun really shine.

Please continue on to the wonderful, and a personal friend of mine, Amber Norris Photography | Hattiesburg, MS Child Photographer.

Allison Jacobs - Beautiful Suzanne!!! I love those first portraits + your non-people images with that amazing light! Wow, they just take my breath away.

Laura Veno - Love these, Suzanne! I did not have sun for my project either and pulled from the past. :) Love your images and the creativity with the non people pics!

Ginger Unzueta - just stunning!!wow!

krista keller - Suzanne – Awesome! I think you need to hang those 3 non people/mother nature pictures together as a 3some….they are amazing! I keep going back to the flower one…there is just something about it that keeps drawing me back in for a look. And of course, your girls are so pretty…love how you shot through the grass and all her necklaces and head band. Totally stylin! backlighting is magical!

Jessica - These are simply beautiful, every single one! Wonderful job with backlighting!

Christine b - Wow the light is beautiful!! You did an amazing job with the light. Cheating or not ; ) I really love the fence and the grass shot…love! The shots of your girls are perfect, as always!

melissa deakin - suzanne, these are stunning.
the light is amazing and the setting is beautiful.
your daughter is so beautiful–love that headband!

Kim - These are all beautiful (your daughter, too!). I would be printing and framing for sure – the fence image is especially stunning to me.

Project 12 Portraits: {Garage Light} | Hattiesburg, MS Photographer

I was so excited about the theme this week, Garage Light. This is my kind of light. It’s what I look for every time I shoot. We are redoing our bedroom so I took the opportunity to make this an official session for us so I can print the images from our “garage light” session to go in our room. It has been a very long day and I am so tired. I had the hardest time narrowing these down! I wish you could see them bigger. I have to say my kids are really cute. I used a gray backdrop in my garage and had a blast!

krista keller - Suzanne – you ROCKED this! I wish I could see these go up in your bedroom. They are going to look amazing! I like that they are all clean and beautifully lit images with out props…they are just your kids and their beautiful souls. Well done my friend…as always!

Allison Jacobs - Suzanne, I love the way you are able to capture your children. These images are beautiful!!! Your walls are going to be amazing & I can’t wait to see how these look large & on display! Love.them.all.

Jessica - These will look FANTASTIC on your walls–wonderful images!

Christine b - Your family is SO beautiful. They look like little GAP models. I cannot wait to see them up on your walls. I still have not ordered mine because 1) I cannot make a decision and 2) it turned out the shots of them alone that I liked where head shots so I am not sure of big floating heads on my wall…uuugh

Me & Mine {March} | Hattiesburg, MS Photographer

So here is our next installment of my monthly project where I am supposed to be IN the pictures with the kids. To recap, this has not been my favorite project. I hate being in front of the camera. I determined this year would be fun and so far it has been. I am a child of the 80′s. Well, half 80′s haha. I was born in ’75, so I claim the 80′s as a big part of my younger childhood. My older girls also love the hair and makeup of the 80′s so we decided to dress up and have fun with it. Max is more “Duckie” inspired from Pretty in Pink and the girls and I are just a hodge podge of stuff. I have not curled my bangs in ages, but I did burn my forehead just like I was 14 again. Fun times.

Well, without further adieu, here are me and my kiddos. Oh and before you panic, I Photoshopped Stella’s make up.:)

Please continue on with our next fabulous photographer, Tamsen Donker | Creative Clicks Photography | Niagara Newborn Photographer.

Mandie - Suzanne!!! I about laughed my self to death at Stella’s makeup!! OMG! So cute! You all look adorable!

leslie wade-felts - I absolutely love love love….The kids look awesome and you look like you are 12…how far did you have to dig for that collar…because thats all i remember you wearing…spiked collar and spiked hair….THis project rocks!

Allison Jacobs - Oh my Suzanne!!!! I loooooove this. I can only imagine how much fun this was for your kids to plan and set up. These are SO great. I can’t stop smiling. :D

amber norris - This is Awesomeness!

Project 12 Portraits: {Framed} | Hattiesburg, MS Photographer

The theme this week is “frame” or “framed”. It means you can use any element to create a natural frame around your subject. There are some very creative ways of doing this. We just got back from a mini vacation and I feel like I have not stopped in days. So this week it is sweet and simple. I used a spot a mile from my home with a fence. I thought it would work to “frame” my kids faces in-between the boards. I literally only took 2 images per kid. That was all they were going to let me get this week. I guess it worked out!

Please continue to the wonderful Allison Jacobs | Orange County Photographer.

Christine b - You have beautiful kids!! Worked out perfectly. Hope you had a great mini vaca.

melissa deakin - hi suzanne!
these are wonderful!
your children all have unique looks and i love that with only 2 photos each, these are stellar!

Allison Jacobs - Well, I would say you nailed it in less than 2 shots here!!! Amazing. It is so cool how you got the same kind of framing for all 3 of them….might make a cool wall display… :D

Jessica - I just love these, and I totally agree with Alli–they belong on your wall!

Amber - Love their eyes in these! Great work Suzanne!

Me & Mine {February} | Hattiesburg, MS Photographer

This is our 2nd installment of our monthly “Me & Mine” project. The purpose is to get us, the photographers and moms, in the pictures with our kids. As I mentioned in my first post for the year, I am not the biggest fan of this project because I hate myself in front of camera and last year, it seemed to cause a strain on my family rather than a fun experience. Well not this year! My goal each month is to have fun!

For this month, I decided to document one of our favorite things to do…dancing! If you see us at the end of a movie in the theatre, we will be dancing to the music at the end. You might also catch us in the car and always at home. Yep, I have a little brood who just loves to shake their tail feathers. One of the best memories we have is the first time we watched The Avengers at home. After the movie, the kids and I got up and impromptu started rocking out to the song at the end. Oh yes, there was hair flying everywhere and Stella even got in on the action by being my “guitar.” For the image this month, I put on some good hair band tunes and we rocked it out in front of the camera. My neck is still sore. PS – I plan on having Max actually wear a shirt in one of these for this year. Haha. He was in his “Hulk” costume.

Please continue on with our circle by heading to the wonderful Krista Keller | Danville CA Photographer.

Carey Pace - I LOVE that you are going for FUN this year and dude, did you ever rock that out this time. LOVE it.

Christine b - So cute!! One of our fave things to do too. I am with you this year…this will NOT stress me out like it did last year. Totally defeated the purpose. Even the imperfect pics of us together are perfect as long as we are together.

Leslie Wade-Felts - This is awesome and reminds me of you growing up I looked up to you and Elizabeth Farnsworth- so much- y’all were always dancing!

Amber - So cute. I love this

Krista keller - Suzanne! Love this! Love that you are so creative and have fun with your kids….well, honestly, I am so impressed that you can still have fun and have 4 kids. I am with you 100% that this year its all about fun shots and loving the imperfections of life! Rock on!

tamsen - gah! I LOVE it! What a fun memory to have with mom! Do you know how much of a treasure this image will be to your kids in 50 years time?! They will show their grandchildren and tell them just how awesome you were… beautiful!

jules - ha! these make me smile! there’s nothing like rocking out with the kiddos! so much fun!
